Just bought my 2015 GC overland V6 this fall. I was only able to tow my boat in town a few miles. I’m curious what others who have a similar setup to mine think about the power and handling of their Jeep. My boat is a 18.5’ boat. Boat and trailer weight about 3500lbs. I pulled a 5000# 19' rv trailer 2500 miles in the heat of last summer

If you can find one, we'd opt for the Grand Cherokee Limited with the 3.0-liter CRD diesel engine. Short of that, stick with the 2008 and newer cars for their improved reliability ratings, and look for the 5.7-liter HEMI which offers more power than the 4.7-liter engine with nearly the same fuel economy.
As it turns out, the 3.6 Pentastar is just about as expensive to swap in as any small block V8. Sure, you can buy parts that will work. But you're buying a ton of new parts that changed when Jeep started putting that V6 in the JK. And when you're done, the Pentastar isn't a huge improvement over the 3.8. Sure, it's "better" but the gains are
The problem that I was having was that the engine was sputtering and one cylinder was missing at low speeds/rpm. I read the codes with an ODB2 Reader and I was getting codes P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected) and P105D (Intake Valve Stuck in High Lift Position). I web searched the problem and found out that many people were or are currently

Sunday 4th December 2011 Just bought one as a winter hack so the Monaro doesn't end up in a ditch, not impressed to be honest. Its got an LPG conversion and works out about 12mpg. On the plus side i won't get stuck in the snow when it comes. tr7v8 6,823 posts 207 months Sunday 4th December 2011 My WJ has done 10K or so since I bought it, over this time it has done according to the spreadsheet. This is a mix of predominately long motorway runs & a bit of local running around. They hate short journeys & lots of hills, slow corners, whilst in Devon we were getting around 12-13MPG due to the hills, stop/start & love mine, bought 10 months ago for £2,300 off of E Bay. Now done 92K. worth coming over to as there is a lot of knowledge over there. Ade07 Original Poster 489 posts 146 months Sunday 4th December 2011 Thanks! Tečka Mám to auto s tímhle motorem uř pár let, a bez jediného problému (když nepočítám ulítlá hadice turba, když si v servise málo dotáhli).

I was looking hard into finding a TJ Wrangler with under 100k miles. Found one in rough shape but mechanically sound but a rebuilt title. It's a 2001 TJ 4x4, hardtop only. Needs repaint amongst other hassles. About $1000 of work needed right outta the gate. They are dead set on $4600Now on the other hand I found a 2003 Liberty 4x4 in great physical shape (going to check out the rest Monday) and it's $4500 out the door with tags and has only 7000 more miles on it than the I really want to do is go from point A to B reliably as well as trail ride and adventuring. The is pretty reliable in this mileage range, I know. But is the as reliable given the same mileage?
I bought my litre petrol Jeep new three years ago. Going in, I knew it would be a thirsty vehicle given its out-dated 4 speed auto tranny and almost 2 tonnes of weight. I also knew the diesel version would be cheaper on fuel, but given the excellent run out pricing I got on the petrol version, it was hard to justify paying over $6,000 more for the diesel. I thought to myself "spend $6,000 more up front now, or pay it in instalments via extra fill-ups over the life of the vehicle?" I chose the latter. $6,000 would buy me around 70 full tanks...Read more of petrol, and also considering service costs on petrol engines are generally lower than diesels, the break even point would come a very long way down the track. My reasons for buying the Cherokee were the great purchase price, its looks, its high level of features, and its cargo space. The fact that it was a real 4x4 (with low range) that also was comfortable and behaved quite well on the road helped seal the deal. Of course I wished it had the more powerful and efficient Pentastar engine and 6 speed automatic that the Grand Cherokee had, but this car was $14,000 cheaper than one of those! You can't have everything. In use over the last three years (and 50,000kms) the Jeep has been ultra reliable. Not a single thing has gone wrong with it. I've driven between capital cities, taken it on the beach, done some light off-roading, commuted in the city daily, towed trailers, and filled it with band equipment regularly. Its fuel consumption routinely falls between and 15 Lt/100kms around town, and returns about 12 on longer trips. I have found that oil viscosity affects the fuel consumption. The manual calls for the use of a thin 5w20 weight oil. Make sure you do use a 5w oil as putting in a 10w30 (as the Jeep dealer did) adds at least and extra 1Lt/100kms to its already healthy appetite. The engine/tranny is the weak link in an otherwise great package. Climbing hills, overtaking at speed, and towing all show up that the engine is somewhat underpowered, and when the 4 speed tranny kicks down under load, it ain't subtle! Again, I was expecting this and it was a trade-off I made mentally against the highly competitive purchase price. The 20 inch rims on my Jet model are not suited to any serious off-roading, but I've found they worked just fine on the beach and the muddy trails I have taken the Jeep on. The tyres have held up well and will need changing at around 60,000kms.
